Toronto—Dentons is pleased to announce that the University of Calgary has won top honours at the sixth annual Donald G.H. Bowman National Tax Moot.

The other winners include Martin Banach (York University, Osgoode Hall Law School) for Best Advocate, University of Alberta for Best Factum – Appellant, and University of British Columbia for Best Factum – Respondent.

The moot, named after the Honourable Donald G.H. Bowman, former Chief Justice of the Tax Court of Canada and Counsel to Dentons, was held on February 26 and February 27 at the Federal Courts Building at 180 Queen Street West in Toronto.

This year, 50 students from 10 law schools across Canada competed in the two-day moot. The students argued the actual case of Guindon v. The Queen (2015 SCC 41). The judges of the moots included jurists from the Federal Court of Appeal and Tax Court, and lawyers from the Department of Justice and private practice.
