London—Dentons has advised Greater Cambridge Shared Planning, a strategic partnership between South Cambridgeshire District Councils and Cambridge City Council, on two permissions authorising 5000 new homes and associated facilities that will form the new town of Northstowe.
The permissions, which will implement Phase 3 of the new town development in Cambridgeshire, will bring the overall number of homes in the town to 10,000.
Phase 3a will cover 4,000 homes, a local centre, and two new primary schools across 519 acres on the southern end of Northstowe.
Phase 3b, which was given the green light earlier this month, will provide 1,000 new homes, a primary school, a small mixed-use zone and accessible greenspace across 116 acres within the northern end of the town.
Delivery of the two Phases is expected to start in 2023.
Michele Vas, counsel in Dentons' Planning and Public Law team, said: "We are pleased to have supported Greater Cambridge Shared Planning on the approval for this huge milestone for the new town of Northstowe. The proposed development will bring significant economic, social and environmental public benefits.”
The team was led by Michele Vas (Counsel) and Rachael Herbert (Senior Associate). Dentons, with Michele Vas leading, continues to work with various local authorities on urban extension and new communities residential led projects, with proposals to deliver over 14,000 new homes.
