Dentons is pleased to share that our beloved late partner, colleague and friend, Lenora Walker Pate, has been posthumously awarded the 2021 Susan Bevill Livingston Leadership Award by the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar. After a courageous battle with cancer, Pate passed away on June 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Dentons Sirote and the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar held a special reception for Pate’s family and friends on Wednesday, February 16, at the Firm’s Birmingham office in honor of Pate’s life, work and legacy. Recipients of this award are selected based on their demonstrated dedication to mentoring, a high level of leadership throughout their careers and a commitment to their communities through civic and bar activities. Pate perfectly exhibited all of these qualities.

The Susan Bevill Livingston Leadership Award was established in 2016 by the Women’s Section of the Alabama State Bar to honor women lawyers in Alabama who reflect the values of Susan Bevill Livingston. Livingston practiced law for 29 years at Balch & Bingham in Birmingham. She was a tireless advocate of mentoring, serving as a mentor to countless young women, both in and out of the practice of law. Livingston also had a strong commitment to her community and volunteered for many civic opportunities, as well as being an outstanding leader in both her personal and professional life.
