Nicholas Jackson is a member of Dentons' Intellectual Property and Technology practice, with a focus on patent litigation. He has practiced before US courts at the trial and appellate levels, including the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and before the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Nick’s extensive experience enforcing patent rights and defending patent infringement claims encompasses a wide variety of technologies, including medical devices, wearable technology, consumer products, cellular telephones, consumer appliances, cloud computing, naval architecture, and mechanical devices. From early-stage startups and individuals to Fortune 500 companies, Nick helps technology companies protect their most important assets.
Nick also supports clients in developing strong portfolios. A registered patent attorney, he has managed as many as 500 pending applications to obtain patent protection, in the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and before its Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), involving a range of electrical and mechanical technologies, including semiconductor manufacturing, optical imaging devices, photovoltaics, surgical equipment and implants, medical devices, and automotive design.
Nick has a BS in mechanical engineering and prior to entering the legal profession worked as a quality assurance engineer for Denso Manufacturing, a tier-one OEM automotive part manufacturer, managing customer-side quality control.
Prior to joining Dentons, Nick was an associate at Dickstein Shapiro LLP and judicial extern for Chancellor Thomas Frierson on the Chancery Court for the Third Judicial District of Tennessee. While in law school, he was a member of the Tennessee Law Review editorial board, the Giles S. Rich IP Moot Court Team, and the University of Tennessee Student Disciplinary Board, and received the Certificate of Academic Excellence in Intellectual Property.
