Kyiv—Global law firm Dentons has advised Chinese energy giant PowerChina Guizhou, on the implementation of the Progressovka project, a 148-megawatt solar power plant in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. The project is being implemented jointly with the Norwegian energy company Scatec Solar, as equity investor, while PowerChina Guizhou is providing financing and engineering procurement and construction (EPC) services to the Project.

The project will be realized under Ukraine’s 10-year feed-in-tariff scheme, but the solar plant is expected to deliver power beyond the feed-in-tariff period. The commercial operations of the plant are expected to commence in the first half of 2020. After construction, the project will produce 187 gigawatts a year.  It will provide clean energy for  76,000 households, and reduce annual carbon emissions by 150,000 tonnes.

Dentons provided legal support under English and Ukrainian law, on the supply contract, EPC contract (based on the FIDIC form), loan agreement, umbrella agreement, as well as security documents.
