Berlin—The global law firm Dentons has advised Dr. Frank Steffel, owner of Steffel Holding GmbH & Co. KG, on the sale of his business activities to Brüder Schlau GmbH & Co. KG. It was agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The sale has become effective today and is retroactively effective as of January 1, 2016.

The Steffel Group is headquartered in Berlin and specializes in interior design, home furnishings and floor coverings. The group is active throughout Germany and comprises the subsidiaries HOME-TREND, IBS, INVER and DEKOWE. Most recently it achieved a turnover of €77 million with a total of about 330 employees. The buyer, Brüder Schlau Group, is a German trading group with headquarters in Porta Westfalica and a turnover of €675 million in fiscal year 2015. Among Schlau group’s holdings is Hammer, a specialist retail chain.

The Dentons team, under the leadership of Andreas Ziegenhagen, advised the seller in all legal and tax issues. This included employment and antitrust advice as well as advice regarding contract negotiations.
