Amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act

The amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Act, initially enacted on February 20, 2015, proceeded under parliamentary paper (pl/druk sejmowy) no. 744, has just been adopted by the lower chamber of the Polish parliament (Sejm). The amendment has been forwarded to the Senate for consideration. The project introduces transformative changes to foster accelerated development within Poland's RES sector, aligning national regulations with European Union standards and requirements.

Integrated investment plans (ZPI) – a new planning tool that should accelerate further development of wind farms in Poland

Last year's amendment to the provisions of the Planning and Spatial Development Act, which came into force on 24 September 2023, significantly changed the existing legal status of financing and adopting local zoning plans, giving investors, in particular those implementing onshore wind farms, a new legal instrument in the form of an integrated investment plan (ZPI) and urban planning agreement.

New support scheme for biomethane production by biomethane plants above 1 MW – relevance in practice

At the end of September this year, the renewable energy industry was put on its feet by the release of the long-awaited draft amendment to the Act of May 20, 2016 on investments in wind farms and certain other acts (UD-89). As part of the public consultation, interested parties were able to submit comments on the draft until 25 October. The draft is expected to be adopted by the Council of Ministers and referred to the lower chamber of the Parliament (Sejm) for further legislative work.
