Edmonton—Dentons is proud to congratulate Carman McNary, Q.C., C.D., ICD.D, Tax Counsel, on his honorary doctors of law degree from the University of Alberta.

Honorary degrees “celebrate both established and emerging leaders who have had a transformative impact in local, national and international communities.” As one of thirteen recipients to be awarded the honorary degrees at this year’s Spring Convocation, Carman will receive his degree and address the convocation on June 5 at the University of Alberta.

Carman is a leader in the Edmonton community, and a leading tax lawyer in Canada. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2010, and has chaired numerous boards including both the Alberta and Edmonton chambers of commerce, and the Edmonton Community Foundation. He also co-chaired Edmonton’s 2017 United Way campaign, was vice-chair of the Metro Mayor’s Advisory Task Force and served on the Mayor’s Task Force on Poverty and the Edmonton Homeless Commission. Carman has received the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Queen Elizabeth II Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals, and the Alberta Centennial Medal.
