Sirote & Permutt, P.C., is pleased to share that Sirote attorney Joe Ritch will be inducted into this year’s class of the Alabama Business Hall of Fame. It is an honor for one of our remarkable attorneys to receive this recognition for his business contributions and to be counted among other notable Alabamians.

Attorney Joe Ritch is based in our firm’s Huntsville, Alabama, location, where he is well known throughout the region for his high-profile work with the North Alabama/South Central Tennessee area in their efforts on behalf of Redstone Arsenal. As chairman of the Tennessee Valley BRAC Committee, he led a group of 13 communities in an effort that resulted in thousands of military and government contractor jobs being brought to Redstone. As a civic leader, Joe has done much to elevate the Huntsville area with his involvement in a number of organizations, including the Huntsville-Madison County’s Athletic Hall of Fame and Chamber of Commerce, the Alabama Space and Rocket Center Foundation, and the University of Alabama Board of Trustees.

The six additional inductees honored in 2020 are notable Alabama natives or businessmen: the inventor of the Super Soaker, Lonnie Johnson; Robert O. “Bob” Baron, CEO and founder of weather-forecasting Baron Services; Cecil Batchelor, chairman of CBS Banc-Corp and chairman emeritus of CB&S Bank; Marcus Bendickson, former CEO and chairman of the board of Dynetics Inc., a high-technology, mission-critical services and solutions provider; Jay Grinney, former president, CEO, and director of HealthSouth Corp., now known as Encompass Health; and Stan Starnes, executive chairman of ProAssurance Corp., one of the nation’s top casualty insurance carriers.

The Alabama Business Hall of Fame was established in 1973 to honor individuals who have brought lasting fame to Alabama through their business contributions. The Hall of Fame is housed at the Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the in-person induction ceremony will take place in the fall of 2021.
