Our firm is pleased to share that shareholder Brad Sklar was honored with Birmingham’s 2020 Vistage Member Excellence Leadership Award. Vistage is the world’s largest CEO peer advisory organization for midsize businesses with more than 23,000 members in 20 countries. Vistage’s mission is to “help CEOs make better decisions by bringing leaders together.”

The Vistage Leadership Award honors members for their achievement in leadership. These members embody Vistage’s values of trust, caring, challenge, and growth and make great decisions that benefit their companies, families, and communities. Brad certainly meets these criteria in his profession and his community and civic involvement. For example, Brad is a prolific speaker on topics ranging from the most up-to-date tax and incentive legislation and its impact on businesses to complex community and real estate structuring. Over the years, he has served as a board member and corporate chair of such organizations as the Birmingham Business Alliance, Progress Bank, the Mountain Brook Board of Education, and the University of Alabama Law School Foundation.

Brad is a current executive board member at our firm and was co-chair of our firm’s Corporate Tax Department of the Tax Practice Group. Brad focuses on complex tax, entity, and business planning transactions, including mergers and acquisitions; sales of businesses; sale and purchase structuring and funding of large real estate transactions; raising capital; and navigation of state and local tax incentives. He counsels clients in tax and business planning and entity structuring for development and business structuring. He also coordinates the planning of transactions to maximize tax benefits, reduce risk, and comply with tax law at local, state, and federal levels, including incentive and economic development opportunities. Brad has received numerous recognitions throughout his legal career, including several Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” in Birmingham awards, an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell, and the accolade of “Top 1%” from America’s Most Honored Professionals.  He has also been recognized in Chambers USA for Corporate/Commercial every year since 2012.
