William is a Senior Associate at Dentons in Uganda, supporting the Banking and Finance, Energy and Natural Resources and Corporate practice groups.

He has over four years of experience advising on domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions where he advises both investors and businesses on financings, projects and corporate and regulatory compliance across many different sectors, such as fintech, insurance and renewable energy.

His experience spans across many disciplines including due diligence, legal and regulatory compliance, legal research, and litigation. He has a particular interest in technology, tax, data protection and intellectual property matters.

TMT, Tax, Energy and Natural Resources, Banking and Finance

Uganda Development Corporation (UDC): Advising the investment arm of the Government of Uganda in connection with a joint venture with Meera Investments Limited (MIL) a private entity for the development of a state-of-the-art conference facility valued at US$47 Million.
NIC Holdings Limited: Advising NIC on a capitalization by way of bonus issue of UGX 707,889,859 ordinary shares that were listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange.
St. Mary’s Hospital, Lacor (Corti Foundation): Assisting this not-for-profit hospital which is the largest in Equatorial Africa to reorganize its ownership and management structure and realign its tax structure.
Confidential Client: Advising a leading global bank, which is the lead arranger of a €180 million-loan facility to the Government of Uganda for development of infrastructure projects, on the Ugandan law aspects of the transaction which was made available through Murabaha contracts.
Confidential Client: Advising the lender on a US$5 million loan facility for the development of a real estate project in Uganda that will provide affordable housing to students and young professionals.
Confidential Client: Advising a leading regional financial institution on the 100% acquisition of a Tier 3 financial institution in Uganda.
China Road and Bridge Corporation: Project involved rehabilitation of the 234 km Tororo – Namanve railway section including the Jinja Pier Line (3.2 km), Jinja Pier Yard (0.5 km), Crossing Lines (8.3 km) and the Naigombwa Swamp section. Advised this client on all day-to-day legal matters arising from this project. This includes drafting contracts, reviewing contracts, advising on employment related issues and regulatory compliance with public procurement requirements.
Confidential client: Conducting a mid-level due diligence on a ride hailing application operator that links users to nearby motorcycle-taxi operators. The due diligence was carried out across Uganda and Mauritius. The deal led the client to collaborating with the operator in an asset management business to own and lease vehicles to Safeboda in the East African area through a Series 2 investment valued at US$3 million.
