On 17 July 2019 Papua New Guinea (PNG) became the 160th state to accede to the United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards, commonly known as the New York Convention. In this article, PNG Partner Erik Andersen and Solicitor Maryanne Tusais explain that while PNG’s accession to the New York Convention is a welcome move in encouraging international arbitration, it will be of limited consequence without much-needed reforms to domestic legislation on arbitration.

Her practice focuses on all aspects of franchise and distribution law, related to corporate and commercial contracts and disputes.
