Jon represents clients across a wide variety of industries in commercial litigation and land use matters, drawing on his more than 20 years of experience providing counsel on corporate and government law disputes and appeals. Jon’s clients include C-suite executives and business owners, elected officials and governmental entities, financial institutions, executors and other fiduciaries, commercial developers and homeowners’ associations. Jon is experienced in helping clients navigate novel and frequently “bet-the-company” matters involving contractual disputes, real estate and land use disputes, trusts and estate litigation, insurance coverage disputes, professional negligence and employment-related claims, fiduciary duties, non-compete provisions, government contracts, planning and zoning issues, taxing authority and election law. Jon has successfully handled multiple cases involving catastrophic construction incidents and related insurance issues, represented developers and other property owners in appeals of planning and zoning matters, and counseled clients in connection with numerous “business divorces” and complex marital dissolution proceedings.

Jon began his legal career in the lower Manhattan office of a large international law firm, directly across the street from the World Trade Center, on Sept. 4, 2001. While practicing in New York, Jon represented financial institutions and publicly-traded corporations (including three of the Fortune 10 companies) in a variety of matters including securities and business litigation, investigations conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission and various United States Attorneys’ Offices, and International Chamber of Commerce arbitrations. Jon also participated in several appellate matters, including an appeal to New York’s highest state court of an insurance law ruling determining whether one of the largest corporations in the United States could obtain excess coverage in connection with hundreds of thousands of personal injury claims.

Jon practices in both federal and state trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies and tribunals, and has achieved the highest rating available by both his peers and the judiciary (AV® Preeminent™ - Judicial Edition from Martindale-Hubbell). He has also been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and Kentucky Super Lawyers for his work in both trial and appellate courts. 

Prior to law school, Jon served in President William J. Clinton’s administration as a member of the White House advance staff. He continued to serve as an aide to President Clinton during his post-presidency and to former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton during her first campaign for the U.S. Senate and both of her presidential campaigns. Jon also worked in the past presidential campaigns of Gen. Wesley K. Clark (Ret.) and Senator John F. Kerry, and staffed President Joseph R. Biden during official White House travel.
